How to Use the ProfitTree Advertisement Tab
Best Practices for the ProfitTree Advertisement Tab
This guide explains how to set up and use the new Advertisement Tab in your ProfitTree account.
Step 1: Integrate Your Etsy Shop
Begin by integrating your Etsy shop with ProfitTree.
Allow the integration process to complete. This is a prerequisite for using the Advertisement Tab.
Step 2: Download and Install the ProfitTree Chrome Extension
Download the free ProfitTree Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Add the extension to your Chrome browser.
Ensure that the browser with the Chrome extension is logged into the same Etsy account you are analyzing in ProfitTree. This allows the extension to match your account accurately.
Step 3: Sync Your Account
In ProfitTree, ensure you are toggled to the correct account, and it matches the Etsy account logged into your browser.
Locate the "Sync" button in the Advertisement Tab and click it. This will sync your ad metrics with the tab. (Note: The sync button is from inside the chrome extension NOT inside the web app yet)
If your account syncs properly the success screen in the chrome extension should display this:
Note: The sync process only displays historical data starting from yesterday. Data for "Today" will not be available because ProfitTree requires a full day of ad spend to pull metrics.
Metrics in the Advertisement Tab
The Advertisement Report displays all listings that had ad spend during the selected time period, regardless of their current status. This includes listings that are:
• Advertised
• Not Advertised
• Active
• Inactive, Sold Out , Expired
Fot this report we pull the data for any listing that spent money within the selected timeframe. This applies even when filters like Advertised or Not Advertised are toggled.
Key Columns:
Ad Spend: Reflects the same amount as in your Etsy marketing tab for on-site ads.
TACOS (Total Advertising Cost of Sale):
Calculated as: Ad Spend ÷ Total Sales
Monitor this value over time:
Increasing TACOS: Indicates ads are becoming more expensive.
Decreasing TACOS: Indicates ads are performing better and acquiring customers more cost-effectively.
Set your target TACOS based on your profit margins and adjust accordingly.
ROAS (Return on Ad Spend): While the Break-Even ROAS column is still under development but you can still see your breakeven ROAS from your listing report tab.
Total Sales Breakdown:
Ad Revenue from Listing: Sales generated from customers clicking on an ad and purchasing that specific product.
Ad Revenue from Other Listings: Sales generated from customers clicking on an ad but purchasing other products in your shop.
Listing Organic Revenue: Sales generated organically without ads.
Hover over the Total Sales or Total Orders columns to see detailed breakdowns of these metrics.
Tips for Using the Advertisement Tab
1. Target TACOS:
Decide on your target TACOS based on target profit margins.
Ex: You want to make at least 30% Profit for your shop then you must keep TACoS less than 18% (see screenshot of pie chart)
2. Monitor Performance:
Use the dashboard to track profit and evaluate ad performance.
Ensure you're considering both paid and organic revenue to get a holistic view.
Upcoming Features
