1. Product Finder (Demand-Based Product Research)
Product Finder helps you research what’s currently working on Etsy using demand and performance signals — not scraped or private data.
With Product Finder, you can:
Discover trending products and niches
Analyze estimated monthly sales and revenue
Evaluate competition using demand ratios and niche scores
Review listing performance metrics such as:
Conversion rate
Visibility score
Average order value (AOV)
Product Finder is designed to surface real opportunities, not overwhelm you with thousands of irrelevant listings.
2. Demand Badges (Instant Opportunity Signals)
Demand Badges highlight listings and products that show strong demand signals.
They help you quickly identify
Products gaining traction
Shops with multiple high-demand listings
Niches with strong buyer activity
Demand Badges are used throughout Product Finder and with our Etsy Radar browser extension, to help you make faster, smarter research decisions. The Etsy Radar extension allows you to view Product Finder data directly inside of Etsy.
3. COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) Management
Accurate profit starts with accurate costs. COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) are the direct costs required to produce or purchase the products a business sells, such as materials, manufacturing, or wholesale costs. ProfitTree helps you manage COGS by allowing you to:
Enter or bulk-import COGS for each product
Automatically sync product and shipping costs from Printify and Printful
Apply consistent COGS across listings using the same SKU
Maintain historical COGS accuracy when costs change over time
With proper COGS tracking, you can finally see true profit per order and per product.
4. Accurate Profit Tracking (Ledger-Based)
ProfitTree calculates profit using real, billed data from your Etsy payment ledger, including:
Gross sales
Shipping collected
Discounts
Refund adjustments
Etsy fees
Advertising spend
COGS
This ensures your numbers are financially accurate, consistent, and aligned with what Etsy actually charges — not estimates or previews.
5. Advertising Spend & Impact Analysis
ProfitTree’s Advertisement Report helps sellers understand how their Etsy advertising spend impacts sales and overall shop performance. It combines Etsy ad data with ProfitTree’s reporting tools to give a clearer picture of advertising efficiency and outcomes.
What the Report Shows:
Ad Spend – The total amount spent on Etsy ads for each listing during the selected time period. This matches the ad spend shown in Etsy’s Marketing section.
TACoS (Total Advertising Cost of Sale) – Calculated as Ad Spend divided by Total Sales. This metric shows how much of your revenue is going toward advertising. Higher TACoS indicates a larger share of sales being consumed by ads, while lower TACoS reflects more efficient ad performance.
ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) – Shows how much revenue your advertising generates relative to spend. Break-even ROAS calculations are still under development within the Advertisement Report.
Sales Attribution Breakdown
The report separates sales based on how customers interacted with ads:
Ad Revenue from Listing – Sales generated from customers who clicked an ad for that specific listing.
Ad Revenue from Other Listings – Sales where a customer clicked an ad but purchased a different item.
Listing Organic Revenue – Sales not attributed to advertising.
Hovering over Total Sales or Total Orders reveals this detailed breakdown.
Setup Requirements
To use the Advertisement Report:
Your Etsy shop must be connected to ProfitTree.
The ProfitTree Chrome Extension must be installed and synced to collect advertising data.
Advertising data is available up to the previous day; same-day ad activity cannot be displayed until a full day has passed.
Using the Data
Advertising performance is most effective when reviewed alongside other ProfitTree reports such as the Dashboard, Listing Reports, and Product Reports. Monitoring TACoS trends over time can help you determine whether your advertising spend aligns with your profit goals.
Important Notes & Limitations
For international sellers, Etsy advertising values are displayed in USD due to Etsy API limitations.
Additional advertising insights, including expanded ROAS analysis and deeper COGS-based automation, are planned for future updates.
6. Product Reports
ProfitTree’s Product Reports provide detailed insights into how individual products and variations perform across your shop. Unlike listing-level reports, Product Reports focus on true product performance and profitability, giving you clearer visibility into what is actually driving revenue and profit.
How Product Reports Work
Only products with sales in the selected date range appear in the report.
Each row represents a single product or product variation, including Etsy variations such as size or color.
When SKUs are used consistently, ProfitTree groups the same product sold across multiple listings into one row.
Without SKUs, identical products sold in different listings appear as separate entries.
Clicking a product allows you to view its historical performance across all listings where it has sold.
Key Metrics Explained
Product Reports display essential financial and performance data for each product:
SKU – The product identifier, if used.
Listing Title – The primary listing and variation name associated with the product.Units Sold – Total quantity sold during the selected period, with indicators showing performance changes.
Net Sales – Revenue after discounts, refunds, and applicable adjustments.
COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) – Total cost for units sold; missing COGS is flagged for visibility.
Operating Expenses – Estimated average Etsy-related fees, including transaction, processing, listing, and shipping deductions.
Operating Profit – Estimated profit after product costs and operating expenses, excluding advertising and indirect costs.
Profit Margin (%) – Estimated percentage profit relative to net sales.
ROI (Return on Investment) – Estimated return based on product costs and operating expenses.
Why This Matters
Product Reports help you:
Identify which products and variations are truly profitable.
Understand product-level performance trends over time.
Combine sales data across multiple listings using SKUs for clearer insights.
Evaluate costs, margins, and returns at the product level.
By focusing on actual sales and cost data, Product Reports give sellers the clarity needed to make better decisions about pricing, inventory, and product strategy.
7. Listing Reports
ProfitTree’s Listing Reports provide detailed, listing-level insights into how your Etsy listings are performing during the selected date range. These reports combine revenue, costs, and profit metrics in one place and include only listings that generated sales in the chosen period.
How Listing Reports Work
Each row represents an Etsy listing that had at least one sale in the selected date range.
Metrics are calculated using Etsy ledger data along with the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) you’ve entered or imported from integrated POD providers.
Some costs are shown as weighted averages due to Etsy API limitations on per-listing fee and shipping breakdowns.
Listing Reports focus on individual listings and do not group data by SKU (SKU-based grouping is handled in Product Reports).
Key Metrics Explained
Listing – Displays the listing image and title, with direct access to view the listing on Etsy.
Orders & Units Sold – The number of orders containing the listing and the total quantity sold.
Net Sales – Revenue attributed to the listing after discounts, refunds, and shipping adjustments. When orders include multiple listings, revenue is distributed proportionally.
COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) – Total product costs associated with units sold from the listing.
Operating Expenses – The portion of shop expenses attributed to the listing, including transaction fees, processing fees, listing fees, and seller-paid shipping costs.
Profit Metrics
Operating Profit – Estimated profit after subtracting COGS and operating expenses, excluding advertising and indirect costs.
Profit Margin (%) – Estimated profit as a percentage of net sales before advertising costs.
ROI (Return on Investment) – Shows the return earned based on product and operating costs.
Break-Even ROAS – Indicates the Return on Ad Spend required for ads on that listing to break even, assuming accurate COGS is provided.
Why This Matters
Listing Reports help you:
Identify which listings are driving revenue.
Understand which listings are most effective at covering costs.
See how expenses are allocated across individual listings.
Track listing-level performance changes over time.
When used alongside Product Reports and Dashboard metrics, Listing Reports provide a clear view of how each listing contributes to your shop’s overall performance.
8. Tags
We’ve added Tags to provide clearer context and faster filtering across opportunities.
Tags give you instant insight into why an opportunity is showing demand. They may reflect signals such as:
Growth patterns
Stability vs. trend behavior
Competitive dynamics
Audience or use‑case indicators
You can use tags to:
Scan opportunities faster
Compare similar ideas
Filter based on your strategy or risk tolerance
Tags are designed to work hand‑in‑hand with the Demand Badge to tell a more complete story at a glance.
9. Printify & Printful Integrations
For print-on-demand sellers, ProfitTree offers seamless integrations that automatically import:
Product costs (COGS)
Shipping costs
Variants and SKUs
Order-level fulfillment details
This removes manual cost entry and keeps profit reporting accurate as supplier costs change.
10. Etsy Radar (On-Site Research Extension)
Etsy Radar is a Chrome extension that overlays demand and performance insights directly on Etsy search result pages.
It helps you:
Analyze demand while browsing Etsy
Validate ideas without leaving Etsy
Spot strong listings and competitive signals instantly
Radar works alongside Product Finder to give you both on-platform and off-platform research tools.
