We often get asked if ProfitTree works for international sellers, and the short answer is yes — but with some important limitations you should be aware of.
1. Local Bank Currency Does Not Match Shop Currency Settings
Sadly we do not currently support shops that have their shop currency set differently than their local bank currency, reason being is when we pull data from your order IDs it is going to show in the currency your account is set to where when we pull data from your account ledger it is going to pull in the local currency you have.
In this case what's happening is ProfitTree mixing currencies together and giving inaccurate reports. We apologize greatly for this and we understand if we are not meeting your needs this time.
If your local bank account is set to Pounds (GBP), please make sure your Etsy shop currency is also set to Pounds.
This ensures that ProfitTree can track your orders, fees, and profit accurately without mixing currencies. When your shop currency matches your bank currency, your analytics will reflect real numbers and reports will be reliable.
2. Advertisement Tab Mixing Currencies
Since your shop currency is set to something other than USD, you’re absolutely right to notice this.
Due to Etsy’s limitations, the Advertisements tab currently pulls all ad data from Etsy in USD only, regardless of your local currency settings.
That’s why you may see a mismatch between what’s shown in our dashboard.
We know this isn’t ideal and as it is a limitation of the Etsy API and not something we can control at this time. If this is a deal breaker for you we understand and will email you if anything changes!
3. VAT Tax Support
At this time, ProfitTree does not yet account for VAT tax. VAT is billed differently across countries and seller types, making it a complex feature to implement.
That said, it’s a top priority on our development roadmap, though we don’t yet have an exact release timeline.
4. Printify International Sellers
If you’re a Printify seller and your local bank account or shop currency is not in USD, you might see discrepancies in your profit numbers.
This is because:
• Printify sends all cost and shipping data in USD only
• Currently, we are not able to auto-convert those values into your local currency
• This is due to limitations in the Etsy and Printify APIs
Bottom Line for International Sellers
ProfitTree does work for international sellers, but there are limitations when:
Your shop currency doesn’t match your local currency.
You sell with Printify and you have the integration in place
You need VAT automatically calculated.
You expect ad spend reported in your local currency.
We’re actively working to solve these issues, but for now we want to be transparent so you know exactly what to expect. If these limitations make ProfitTree unworkable for your shop, we understand completely — and we’ll keep you updated as soon as improvements roll out.
